Heat waves intensify each summer, putting a strain on the industrial buildings and the people who work there. However, the climate adaptation of workplaces, is still a challenge for many organizations, whether in the private, public or voluntary sector.
The dual mission of environmental and social Cool Roof is particularly suitable for our mobilization in response to this problem. This is why this fall, one of the projects of the sponsorship and solidarity of Cool Roof is materialized in Annecy.
We have recently presented the project of Cool Roof and Public Places in the northern Districts of Marseille. Similarly, as part of its sponsorship of the year 2024, Cool Roof has collaborated on a second site that is inclusive and supportive, this time with theADTP (Association Départementale pour the Copyrighted Work) in the Haute-Savoie, a second winning organization, our call for projects from the spring of 2024.
The goal ? Transform the roof of their site of Annecy in an oasis of freshness in the summer. This site, in addition to sustainably reduce the temperatures in the workshops, which reflects the shared commitment of Cool Roof and ADTP in favour of the inclusion of people with disabilities through employment.
Cool Roof develops solutions of roof coverings thermoréflectifs to significantly lower the temperature of buildings. Its partnership with the ADTP is based on a double objective :
This partnership ADTP and Cool Roof goes well beyond a simple roof project. It represents a common vision of a world that is professional, supportive, inclusive and eco-friendly.
Moreover, this project is part of an approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), initiated by the ADTP 2 years ago to integrate the well-being of its employees in a situation of disability in the reduction of the environmental impact of the website.
For a better understanding of the importance and the scope of this project, a presentation of ADTP is required. Association law of 1901, the ADTP mission is to reconcile solidarity economy and industrial performance. It offers jobs that are adapted to the people with a disability and is as subcontractor for industrial companies of the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.
With a population of approximately 600 people in the spread over four sites, ADTP is a major player in the integration through employment in the Haute-Savoie. She is also an actor history : in 1957 the association is created to provide work for the war-wounded.
Today, thanks to its suitable companies (EA) and Facilities and Support Services for the Work (ESAT), it allows people with disabilities from across the Haute-Savoie access to the world’s work – whether in its specialized structures or on the way to the world of so-called “ordinary”.
The workshop of Annecy, location of the project, is a building whose interior temperature reaches up to 36°C during summer heat waves. For workers with disabilities, such conditions amplify the hardness of their days and make it difficult to prolonged labour without risk.
40 workers occupy the workshop, and 6 supervisors. These employees are in a situation of physical disability, an intellectual disability and psychological disability. They perform activities of assembly, packaging, manual and automated. The roof is made ofa sealing asphalt. It is not difficult to imagine the sweltering heat that is rampant in these workshops in the summer !
The CoolRoof then appeared as a simple, sober and innovative in order to reduce the temperature without having recourse to air conditioning, energy-consuming and expensive, or renovations to exorbitant prices. It is as well as the ADTP was a candidate in the call for projects of the Cool Roof.
The construction took place from 30 September to 4 October 2024. Initially, the goal was to integrate the staff of ADTP in the making. But the complexity of the site, the terms and conditions of difficult access and working at height have imposed an alternative organisation to ensure the security of all and all.
The construction was carried out by an external service provider known ADTP. This relationship of confidence and his skills have allowed the project to be completed without incident. Thus, the expected results on the quality of life at work in the buildings were able to be delivered as quickly as possible.
Ludovic Hoclet, head of CSR, Quality, Safety and Environment (QSE) of ADTP, underlines the importance of this project for its teams. According to him, the essence of his work and that of ADTP is ” not to add hardness to the hardness. “
In this, the preservation of the health of workers, in particular those with disabilities, is one of his main concerns. This project and its implementation represents a strong symbol of the commitment of the company towards their well-being and their integration.
“But our partnership is only the first step,” said Ludovic. “other projects are in the pipeline.” ADTP plans to work more to reducing its impact on the environment within its CSR approach. For this, energy balance of its buildings are in the course, as well as future projects in connection with green energy.
In the future, ADTP intends to generalize this type of work on other sites, and thus capitalize on the benefits of the solution CoolRoof. Ludovic says : “The board of directors is enthusiastic, and asked me to bring these projects to the budget of the association !”.
Annecy, an event is already in preparation for the summer of 2025. It will allow partners and customers to ADTP of discover the real results of this first project and meet the actors of this project is inspiring. Cool Roof will be there, of course !
Because our approach in solidarity does not stop the sponsorship. Our projects are designed to engage the structures of the insertion by the employment, in order to :
By uniting their forces, CoolRoof and ADTP prove thatit is possible to reconcile ecological transition and social justice.
