Thanks to the application of our cool roofing solution to 250 m² of roofing, the SNCF has improved the critical temperature inside its technical shelters, with a drop of 27°C in surface temperature and 5°C in ambient temperature at Ballan-Miré, in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
SNCF shelters, which are sensitive data centre-type infrastructures, need to be kept at a constant internal temperature to guarantee the reliability of the rail network. In June 2021, the SNCF called on Cool Roof France to treat a 250 m² shelter in Ballan-Miré, which was exposed to overheating that could lead to electrical faults.
An untreated control site in Joué-lès-Tours was used as a reference for a comparative measurement campaign.
The data shows a maximum drop of 27°C, with an average of 16°C between the treated roof (SNCF shelters in Ballan-Miré) and the untreated roof (SNCF shelters in Joué-Lès-Tours).
The difference is up to 5°C in room temperature, ensuring that the set temperature is maintained throughout the day, despite intense outdoor conditions.
