Thanks to the application of our cool roofing solution on 4,365 m² of roof, the Brico Dépôt shop in Brive-la-Gaillarde recorded a 7.5°C drop in indoor temperature, divided the number of hours above 25°C by 9, and reduced its electricity consumption linked to air conditioning by 41%.
Sandrine Lefebvre of the Kingsfisher Group, Brico Dépôt de Brive-La-Gaillarde
Nine months after the application, not only did we see a 6°C drop in temperature in our premises, but above all we were able to measure the drop in the number of hours when the temperature was over 25 degrees in the sales areas: we divided this number of hours by 9! That’s an energy saving of almost 40% on the air conditioning.
Prior to intervention, the roof of the Brico Dépôt shop in Brive had surface temperatures peaking at 77.8°C and interior peaks at 38°C, causing thermal discomfort and excessive air conditioning consumption.
To remedy the situation, Cool Roof France applied its thermo-reflective coating to 4,365 m², with comparative instrumentation between painted and unpainted areas over the summers of 2019 to 2021.
Treated areas recorded a maximum roof temperature of 44.4°C, compared with 77.8°C for untreated areas. Indoors, the maximum temperature drops to 30.5°C, a gain of 7.5°C.
The number of hours above 25°C fell from 383h to just 43h, for an equivalent season in terms of UDD.
On a constant climate basis, summer energy consumption fell from 8122 kWh to 4784 kWh, a saving of 41%.
